Most of you would have heard or seen on the news of the devastating flash floods that has caused horrific damage and loss to numerous parts of Australia, where the death toll is now 18, with grave concerns still held for 14 people missing in the valley, west of Brisbane.
What can we do? Make donations, big or small to various appeals such as The Queensland Premier's Disaster Relief Appeal, The Salvation Army, Australian Red Cross and many other organisations. (Please be careful, SCAMwatch is warning consumers to thoroughly check the legitimacy of charities when donating to help flood victims in central and south east Queensland)
In addition to this you can donate food, clothing and other necessities to assist effected communities. Start your own collection or ask around your community and social groups to find out who is currently organising one and contribute.
Another way of helping out is to support, donate or purchase items from fund-raising groups for the Australian Flood Appeal, but be sure to analyse whether these groups are legit.
